Botanical artist, Heeyoung Kim documents native plants of Midwestern prairies and woods. Rare and endangered ones are in her priority, as plant population is rapidly decreasing globally. She creates detailed portrayals of each plant and its life cycle through keen observation and broad research throughout its growing seasons in natural habitats. Her paintings and drawings are distinguished with scientific accuracy, authentic composition, and masterful rendering of the media. Project 200 is a goal she set to paint 200 native species hoping her art would inspire the public to protect native plants and the eco-system. Known as Wildflower Painter or Rare Plant Painter to locals, Kim’s story was featured in WTTW, Chicago Tonight as ''Rare Plant Painter", (Click to watch!) in June, 2015, and numerous other local media. Through exhibitions and talks/presentations she promotes the importance of native flora. All images and contents are copyrighted by Heeyoung Kim. No unauthorized usages are allowed.
